MONSTER WORKSHOP

This post is designed to help players workshop ideas for characters' monster forms while writing their applications, based on a small Plurk survey that suggested it might be helpful. If you don't need it, there's no obligation to post here, but we wanted to give players a space to pick each other's brains.

This would be a great time to review our FAQ information on curses. Consider how different stages of transformation might look on your character, or whether you want a monster that's more horrifying or more horny (or both!). Remember: violent and sexual urges influence monster transformations (and detransformations!) — failure to vent both will cause a person to transform, but either committing an act of violence or engaging in some monsterfucking is enough to transform someone back to their human(oid) state.

Below, we've paraphrased some helpful advice that players were already prepared to provide via Plurk (thank you to Kait, Pink, and Seph!):

• The 400-word limit on the application is a suggested upwards limit on length! However, for those struggling to write much, bear in mind we expect you to stick to what's on your app, so try to cover everything regarding physical attributes, natural weapons, powers, and behaviors.


• If you're writing a monster that feels common, consider variations between different lores, and specify the version that you feel might better fit your character. Try not to leave out what feels "obvious" or "standard."


• Your application might answer the questions: can it fuck, and if so, how?


• If you want to make a monster unique, aim for unusual morphology (this werewolf has SPINES!) or build off your character's specific interests/associations (this faerie collects musicians!) to flesh out a more generalized monster type.


• When in doubt, pinterest vibes. This TUMBLR might also help.

Ideas:

01: rattlesnake naga. i'm thinking this one because ko is a sort of half-zombie called a handead, and his bite can turn others into handead like him; it's also implied that his 'venom' is harvested for 'injections' so this can happen on a wide-spread basis. i make jokes about him unhinging his jaw and having no gag reflex and stuff but it's probably not really a joke.

admittedly i don't fuck much with naga or the skala-type scaley creatures so my ideas for ko are limited.

02: harpy. some kind of bird creature that appears angelic and glowing and draws someone in with kindness and love and also his mouth in order to kill them or something. thinking this one because of his godly nature; in his canon he's widely revered and worshipped as a god, and he leans into this. while i wouldn't want to make him quite so godly here, i'm thinking it'd be fun to have him kind of honeypot a victim and drag them in for sex or violence. not sure what he'll look like, really.

03: fucked up siren/koi monster. this one would be similar to the harpy but water-based, but he'd use his alluring voice which canonically can undo the brainwashing that affects the japanese population. again, not sure what he'd look like here so much but yeah.

Rattlesnake naga sounds really neat and imo has the best options for some gnarly half-transformed stuff. You could always combine it with the honeypot stuff and give the snake some sort of hypnotism powers through its rattle or eyes, maybe?

OH hell yeah that's perfect wrt the hypnotism. i dig that a ton, thank you! and yeah i do have to consider the interim forms a bit more lmao my ideas are so nebulous ...

i also am thinking about a cobra because his group (called deva) multitrack drifts on their religious imagery n shit so they have Hindu themes as well as Catholic. lots going on here haha

Ideas:

01: fucked up inky benadryl hatman tentacle guy. ok so eldritch monsters like this are a lot more in my wheelhouse. i feel like with rikyo's own alluring and brainwash de-programming voice he could possibly make susceptible people feel insane and they'll act out on that however the player likes. i like ichor and slime so i'm thinking he'll excrete inky stuff and it'll be like an aphro-effect ... or maybe it'll make people go a lil batshit who knows.

i like monsters with a lot of mouths so i'm thinking during his midway point he'll be some kind of muzan kibutsuji-like creature and get more horrifying and twisted if he progresses further.

open to input for him too. i have to decide between him or ko. please help me lol it's so difficult
